Campsites, tourist apartments, and rural accommodations on the Costa Brava anticipate high occupancy rates for July and August, aiming to match or even surpass last year's figures. The hospitality industry in Costa Brava Centre is confident of an excellent season, with some hotel chains already forecasting near-full capacity.
The season benefits from an international context favoring Mediterranean destinations perceived as safe. According to CaixaBank Research, tourist spending via card in the Girona region grew by 6% in 2025 compared to the previous year, with a 7% increase during the summer months. International tourism has shown resilience, and scheduled flights suggest a robust high season across Spain.
Girona's campsites expect to replicate last year's strong performance with stable demand. Despite confidence, a degree of caution remains regarding the impact of weather and international events on last-minute decisions. Key markets include Catalan, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Belgian visitors, with a notable increase from Germany. International clients account for 47% of guests and 63% of overnight stays.
Tourist apartments and holiday homes also show positive booking trends, with slightly higher levels than last year during May and June. The Tourist Apartments Association of Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees indicates that occupancy could exceed 2025 levels, particularly in coastal areas and those heavily reliant on international tourism. Prudence is advised, as some of the increase may be due to earlier bookings.
Rural tourism forecasts 70% occupancy in July for inland and Pyrenean areas, rising to 90% on the Costa Brava, with August projections at 95%. The Sant Joan holiday falling on a Tuesday has shortened stays, with an estimated 65% occupancy between June 22nd and 24th.
In Costa Brava Centre, the Union of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs anticipates a season similar to last year, with national bookings often made closer to the date. The presence of European, British, North American, and South American visitors is highlighted, the latter attracted by the destination's perceived safety. The restaurant sector expects similar footfall to accommodations, though weather will be a key factor. Staff availability and rising prices are primary concerns.
In the hotel segment, Ona Hotels & Apartments projects an average occupancy of 95% between June and August at its Palamós and Lloret de Mar properties, aiming to improve profitability with a 4% increase in average daily rates. The company attributes these forecasts to the strength of the Spanish and French markets, viewing the Costa Brava as a significant national economic driver.
