Budgetary investment in the Girona region increases by 48%

The budget approved by the Government provides for a 48.5% increase in investment for the Girona region, reaching a total of 208 million euros for strategic projects.

The budget allocation, which rises to 213 million if the surpluses of public companies are included, will be used for improvements in essential areas such as primary care, schools, road infrastructure, and waste management. According to the Department of Economy and Finance, this increase is above the regional average, which stands at 42%.
Within the long-term strategy, the Government has established additional provisions to ensure the continuity of projects beyond 2026. In this regard, the Department of Territory and Housing is consolidated as the main recipient of resources, concentrating 44% of the total investment planned for the 2026-2030 period.
Regarding specific actions in the city of Girona, the reservation of 7 million euros for the preservation of the Jordi Vilamitjana park, where the future health campus is planned, has been confirmed. This item is included in a multi-year framework that will be activated at the time of the execution of the works.
The investment calendar sets 2031 as a key date for the completion of relevant infrastructure, such as the new Trueta hospital and the high-speed rail connection to the airport. The executive's goal is to meet the established deadlines to boost the economic growth of the region.
