Girona's sporting director, Quique Cárcel, assessed the winter transfer market on Wednesday, assuring that Ter Stegen was not brought in to replace Gazzaniga.

The Girona Sporting Director, Quique Cárcel, appeared to analyze the winter market, which he described as “complicated” but yielding positive results. He highlighted the need to facilitate the departure of players with limited minutes, such as Solís or Asprilla, and the incorporation of key players to improve the squad.
Regarding arrivals, Cárcel confirmed that the signing of Echeverri was sought last summer and provides offensive alternatives. He also stressed the importance of Fran Beltrán in midfield and, especially, the signing of Ter Stegen to increase competition with Gazzaniga.

"Ter Stegen was not brought here to make people forget Gazzaniga, for nothing in the world, as he has given us so much."

The injury to Ter Stegen has been a “mess” for the club, especially following the departure of Livakovic and the injury to Juan Carlos. However, Cárcel reiterated confidence in Gazzaniga and Vlad, although they are working to resolve the situation of the reserve team goalkeeper.
Concerning the future of the bench, Cárcel was clear: “Míchel knows perfectly well that Quique Cárcel and Girona want him to renew.” He expressed confidence in the coach's continuity and mentioned the club's interest in renewing important players like Arnau and Tsygankov, reminding everyone that the club is a “selling team.”
