The Plaça Lluís Companys in Salt hosted a notable Sant Jaume 'casteller' day, with the hosts, Els Marrecs, as protagonists achieving the 5 of 8. The event also featured the participation of Castellers de Barcelona, Tirallongues de Manresa, and Xerrics d'Olot.
Els Marrecs opened their performance with the complex 7 of 8, successfully completed with confidence, referencing the city's "Cathedral." Castellers de Barcelona began with a challenging 3 of 8, followed by Tirallongues with a 3 of 7, and Xerrics with a 3 of 6 with 'agulla'.
The second round featured towers with 'folre': Castellers de Barcelona and Els Marrecs both loaded and completed a 2 of 8 with 'folre'. Meanwhile, Tirallongues presented a 4 of 7 and Xerrics a 4 of 6. The four groups showed strong mutual support throughout the event.
The climax arrived in the third round with Els Marrecs' 5 of 8. After a first attempt was dismantled, the second try was a success, igniting euphoria in the square. The 'cap de colla', Pau Caravaca, highlighted the excellent execution of the tower, considered the "cherry on top" of the day, and mentioned that the 3 of 9 is progressing well.
The invited groups also performed in the third round: Castellers de Barcelona completed a solid 4 of 8, Tirallongues a 2 of 6, and Xerrics d'Olot a 3 of 6, despite fatigue from the previous day's event.
The day concluded with a round of pillars, including 5 and 4 level pillars from Els Marrecs, a 5-level 'vano' from Barcelona, and 4 and 5 level pillars from Xerrics and Tirallongues respectively. The square bid farewell to the event with enthusiasm and an eye towards future challenges.
