El Prat Airport closed February 2026 with a historic record of 3.88 million passengers, representing a 3.7% increase compared to the previous year.

These figures consolidate the full recovery of the aviation sector in Catalonia. So far this year, the Barcelona facilities have welcomed 7.7 million people, up 3.4% from the same period in 2025. The main driver of this growth was the international market, which saw a 5.8% rise.
In the Girona region, Girona Airport also showed positive dynamics. The Aena-managed site recorded 41,000 passengers, a 5.6% increase compared to February last year.
In contrast to international success, domestic flights within Spain suffered a slight 2% decrease at El Prat. However, cargo transport had an exceptional month with 17,800 tonnes handled, a 24% increase year-on-year.
