The Girona-Costa Brava airport closed January 2026 with 35,462 passengers, marking an 8.2% decrease compared to the previous year and ending a two-year growth cycle.

According to Aena, flight operations at the Girona terminal also fell by 3.9% to 1,292 movements. This correction follows a period of significant expansion where passenger numbers nearly tripled between 2023 and 2025.
While secondary airports like Reus and Sabadell also reported declines due to poor weather conditions, Barcelona-El Prat airport achieved a new monthly record with 3.8 million passengers, a 3% increase driven by international flights.
