The city of Girona has been the scene of a massive casting call for the new Disney adaptation, Tangled, which is seeking between 1,500 and 2,000 extras for this summer's filming.

Thousands of people, coming from various parts of Spain and even other countries, have gathered in La Devesa de Girona to participate in the selection process. The goal is to be part of the filming of a major international Disney production, which has generated great anticipation in the city.
The film in question is the live-action adaptation of the animated movie Tangled, based on the fairy tale of Rapunzel. Filming is scheduled to begin in late June and will extend for eight months across various locations. In Girona, scenes will be shot in the Barri Vell between July 13 and 29.
Although Girona will be one of the prominent locations, the main production base will be established at the Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante. The project will also include other enclaves such as the Santa Bárbara Castle and the Burgos Cathedral.
This new version of Tangled joins Disney's trend of adapting its animated blockbusters into live-action formats, following in the footsteps of other productions such as Beauty and the Beast or Maleficent. The original story of Rapunzel, by the Brothers Grimm, narrates the adventures of a young woman with long hair locked in a tower, who is rescued by a young man named Flynn Rider.
The project will be directed by Michael Gracey, and the main roles will be played by Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.
