The council has agreed to require that the dwelling be vacated within eight working days. If not voluntarily complied with, the City Council plans to carry out the forced recovery, with prior judicial authorization to enter the home.
This property, located at number 26, was acquired by the City Council in March 2023 through the right of first refusal and was designated for public housing service. Subsequently, it was used to rehouse a family with a favorable resolution from the Catalonia Economic and Social Emergency Board until August 18, 2025. After the family returned the keys, municipal technicians detected a new lock and the absence of the anti-squatter door.
Following these events, the Municipal Police checked the state of the dwelling and identified two people. One of the identified individuals filed allegations against the file, but the municipal plenary session this Monday rejected them. With this decision, the council moves forward in recovering the property to make it available again for public housing service.
“"It cannot be that those who break the rules get a reward, while those who are on the list cannot make use of it."
The councilor emphasized the importance of equal opportunities for people on waiting lists for social housing, highlighting that these resources are intended for "people in need".
