The Girona Provincial Council has deployed 180 deterrent beacons across six road sections with high wildlife accident rates in areas including Alp, Montagut, and Sant Climent Sescebes.

The surge in wild boar and roe deer populations has led to 209 accidents in 2023, tripling the figures from 2016. These new solar-powered devices by Faunatek activate when they detect vehicle lights, emitting sounds and flashes to drive animals away from the road.

"Our commitment is clear: to reduce accidents and protect both people and wildlife."
