The average rental price in the province of Girona has grown by 48.47% since January 2021, pushing the monthly cost of a standard apartment above 1,000 euros.

Data from Pisos.com shows that the price per square meter in the Girona region has jumped from 7.70 euros to 11.43 euros in five years. This means a 90-square-meter flat that cost 700 euros in 2021 now demands 1,020 euros, representing a 4,000-euro annual increase for tenants.

"The rise in rental prices even exceeds the increase in purchase prices, placing thousands of households in an impossible situation."

The price gap between Girona city and the rest of the province has effectively vanished. While the city saw a more moderate 21.1% increase, its current rate of 11.33 euros per square meter is now aligned with the provincial average. Experts point to low supply and the rise of tourist rentals as key drivers of this crisis.
