The Girona City Council has suspended all outdoor activities and closed municipal facilities this Sunday as strong winds cause damage across the city and pose a safety risk to residents.

Major public spaces including Devesa Park, Pedreres Park, and Migdia Park have been closed. Scheduled events such as the Cursa dels Àngels race and the Artisan Cheese Forum were cancelled to ensure public safety.

"We have had very different responses from the Generalitat and it is difficult for us to understand. We have had to decide practically alone."

Lluc Salellas · Mayor of Girona
Mayor Lluc Salellas expressed frustration with the Catalan Government, noting a lack of guidance compared to previous weather alerts. Reported incidents include fallen trees, damaged cornices, and a broken window at the Casa de Cultura, though no injuries have been reported.
