The Girona City Council will begin emergency structural work in two weeks at Plaça de Catalunya to reinforce the platform spanning the Onyar river.

The project, scheduled to last until late June, aims to strengthen one-third of the 340 beams supporting the 60-year-old square. Inspections revealed oxidation in the internal iron structures, leading to a preventive intervention.

"Depending on the wear, the beams that need it will be covered and a metal plate will be placed underneath to distribute the weight."
