The weekend brought a large number of visitors to Girona, drawing crowds to its streets, particularly in the Old Town (Barri Vell), to enjoy the Temps de Flors flower exhibition. Despite overcast skies and initial cold, a break in the weather on Saturday morning allowed for a massive arrival of people, leading to queues and parking difficulties.
From early morning, the flow of visitors has been constant. Families, couples, and groups of friends have toured the decorated streets, capturing images at iconic spots like the Cathedral steps, the Leona's hindquarters (cul de la Lleona), and the bridges over the Onyar River. The need to wait for a turn to take photos or navigate the crowds was a common experience.
The event's success was also reflected in the hospitality sector, with full terraces and difficulties finding tables in restaurants. The festive atmosphere mingled with queues and conversations in various languages as visitors moved between the different floral installations.
Although the poor weather in previous days affected some projects, the essence of Temps de Flors remains intact: offering a new perspective of Girona through the beauty of flowers and the transformation of its spaces.
In parallel to the flower exhibition, the citizens' movement Salvem el Castell de Montjuïc (Save Montjuïc Castle) organized a symbolic event to demand the recovery of the site, leaving a flower as a gesture. The group proposes transforming the castle into a place of memory and a museum dedicated to the history of the neighborhood.
Another notable activity is the blood donation campaign promoted by the Blood and Tissue Bank (Banc de Sang i Teixits) in Plaça de l'U d'Octubre, under the slogan 'It's flower time, time to give blood. Time to receive life'.
