Teachers in Girona have joined a widespread strike this March 19, resulting in many educational centers operating under minimum services as staff demand significant labor improvements.

The strike, called by unions including USTEC-STEs and CGT, has seen a significant impact across the Girona region. Representatives from the Board of Directors stated that the majority of local schools are currently working with less than half of their usual staff.

"The vast majority of schools in the Girona regions are performing minimum services or have less than half of the staff."

While the Department of Education officially reported a 7.64% participation rate early in the morning, union representatives argue the reality in classrooms is different. The protest follows a vote where 95% of teachers rejected a previous agreement, demanding lower ratios and less bureaucracy.
