The protest, which took place on April 23, brought together citizens who expressed their concern about the situation of the Catalan language, calling it a “linguistic emergency”. Participants displayed banners and chanted slogans such as “bilingualism kills Catalan” and “In Catalonia, in Catalan”.
“"We call on both citizens and institutions to promote actions that allow stopping and reversing the regression of the language."
This is the third time that Sant Jordi's Day has served as a framework for such a mobilization in Girona. However, this year marks the first occasion in which the call has been simultaneously coordinated at a national level, with demonstrations in various cities such as Barcelona, Reus, and Manresa, highlighting the importance of the movement.
