Llet Nostra has appointed Josep Maria Campabadal as its new president, succeeding Jordi Riembau who retires after a decade. Campabadal, a farmer from Lleida, faces the challenge of finding a new bottling plant in Catalonia.

The Catalan dairy cooperative brand Llet Nostra has announced a change in its presidency. Josep Maria Campabadal, a farmer born in Térmens (Lleida) in 1969, takes over from Jordi Riembau, who is retiring after a decade leading the company. Campabadal thus becomes the third president since Llet Nostra was founded in 2003.
This change marks the end of an era led by Riembau, a farmer from Baix Empordà, who took office in 2016. The company maintains a strong presence in the Girona region, where 29% of its associated farms produce nearly 70% of the milk sold.
The new president, a fourth-generation farmer currently managing a farm with 310 cows, also chairs the Vallfogona Cooperative and is a member of the board of the Baix Empordà dairy cooperative. His career is deeply rooted in the farming sector, agricultural cooperativism, and the defense of Catalan family farms.

"It's quite a challenge. It's another dimension, it's nothing like it."

Josep Maria Campabadal · New President of Llet Nostra
Campabadal admitted that taking on the presidency of Llet Nostra represents a significant step up from managing his family farm, despite his previous cooperative responsibilities. He continues to work directly at the farm in Térmens, managing a team of seven employees and overseeing all daily tasks, from livestock feeding to milking.
The handover occurs at a crucial time for Llet Nostra, which is seeking a new plant to bottle its milk in Catalonia. The sale of Pascual's facilities in Gurb to Casa Tarradellas forces the brand to find an industrial alternative. In the meantime, bottling will be temporarily carried out in Aranda de Duero (Burgos), ensuring that the product's origin remains with Catalan farmers.
The company, comprising around a hundred family farms, sold 35 million liters of milk and generated 33.9 million euros in revenue in 2025. Llet Nostra reaffirms its commitment to the Catalan farming sector, local sourcing, and a model based on family farms and cooperativism.
