The L'Anxova Peluda organization in l'Escala has officially become a foundation after fourteen years of voluntary work dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs across the Girona region.

This legal shift aims to consolidate the project and enhance its operational capacity. By taking this step, the organization becomes the first foundation in Alt Empordà specifically dedicated to animal welfare. Despite the structural change, the leadership emphasized that the core mission remains non-profit and volunteer-based.

"We are becoming a foundation to grow, but without losing our essence: we continue to be volunteers."

The new legal status will allow L'Anxova Peluda to access new funding streams and strengthen partnerships with public institutions. Since its inception, the project has been managed entirely by women, a distinctive feature that continues with the new board of trustees.
