The PSC municipal group in Girona has called on the City Council for an immediate intervention to address the risk of landslides on Montjuïc mountain, specifically affecting the Pedret area.

Local representatives have reported that the safety mesh protecting residential buildings is obsolete, with some sections not being renewed for up to 40 years. The most critical points are located near numbers 12 and 14 on Pedret Street, where large rocks have already fallen near homes built in the 1950s.

"The mesh hasn't been changed in 30 or 40 years and in some places it is clearly about to give way. This is a real risk with serious consequences."

Beyond the landslide threat, the PSC highlighted poor accessibility for emergency services, lack of street lighting, and pest issues in abandoned properties. They are urging the local government to use emergency procedures to renovate the containment systems and clear dangerous vegetation before a major accident occurs.
