The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) had issued severe weather warnings for Monday afternoon in Solsonès, as well as in Berguedà, Cerdanya, and Alt Urgell. Alerts warned of potential hailstorms, strong wind gusts, downbursts, or funnel clouds.
In Solsonès, the storm dropped large hailstones, exceeding 2 centimeters in diameter, as warned by Meteocat. In Cerdanya, a heavy downpour occurred without reported damage or alerts to the fire department or 112.
The size of the hailstones was evident in photos shared by local witnesses. Currently, there are no reports of significant material damage caused by these projectiles.
Meteocat's forecast for the start of the week indicated rainfall that could be torrential in about twenty counties between Monday and Tuesday, especially in the western half of Catalonia, including the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees, Central Catalonia, and Terres de l'Ebre. This precipitation follows the summer's fourth heatwave and an extremely hot and dry July.
For Tuesday, warnings were concentrated on the coastal fringe and inland areas, with high risk in counties like Ripollès, Garrotxa, and Osona. Protecció Civil activated the pre-alert for the Inuncat Plan due to the possibility of over 20 liters per square meter falling in 30-minute periods.
