On February 17, ERC members in Girona elected a new local executive board led by Salva Romero, following an extraordinary assembly triggered by a motion of no confidence.

The election proceeded despite the mass resignation of the previous board members just 24 hours earlier. Party officials confirmed that, according to internal statutes, the resignation did not cancel the scheduled vote in Girona. The new leadership, aligned with mayoral candidate Marc Puigtió, secured 92% of the votes.

"We are opening a stage of normality and shared work to strengthen the organization and prepare it for the challenges ahead."

The internal dispute began after a narrow primary election for the 2027 municipal elections. The local branch became divided between supporters of Marc Puigtió and Àdam Manyé. Annabel Moya, a former city councilor, will now serve as the new General Secretary alongside Romero.
