The production, which has been honored with a Critics' Award and a Butaca Award for Best Musical Actor and Best Musical Show, draws inspiration from an old television program where the artist transformed into a grand vedette. This concept has allowed the Girona-based director to create an intimate concert exploring the artist's legacy.
“"Guillermotta» has been an opportunity to «reposition Guillermina Motta in her rightful place»: «it's not just about 'Remena, nena,' but also about rediscovering poets and poetesses and translating French songs and adapting Boris Vian with great taste»."
The show, performed by Jordi Vidal, features the artist's songs, including her own compositions and adaptations, accompanied by Jordi Cornudella on piano. The musical selection covers both the more melancholic and the more playful, cabaret-style aspects of her repertoire.
The production also incorporates excerpts from the artist's interviews, which serve as transitions and provide insight into the timeless relevance of her reflections. This combination of music and spoken word seeks to champion her contribution to Catalan music, highlighting her work as a composer and translator.
