Tribute to Enriqueta Pons, the Archaeologist Who Unlocked Empordà's Origins

Girona-born archaeologist Enriqueta Pons i Brun has received a public tribute in Pontós for her extensive career dedicated to territorial origins and her deep connection to the Mas Castellar site.

Born in Girona in 1947, Enriqueta Pons served as a curator at the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia in Sant Pere de Galligants from 1977 until 2012. Her professional journey began at the Girona Provincial Council's Archaeological Research Center.

During the event, local authorities including Mayor Barbara Mieke van Hoestenberghe and Deputy Míriam Lanero highlighted Pons's brilliant career. She is currently working on a thesis regarding the Indigetes, the Iberian people of the Empordà region.
