The Mossos d'Esquadra police force has arrested two men in the Girona region who were subject to international warrants for serious crimes, including a murder in Istanbul and drug trafficking.

In Blanes, officers detained a 29-year-old man wanted by France for his role in an international narcotics network. The organization allegedly moved over 250 kilograms of drugs across Europe using modified vehicles. The suspect had been on the run for two and a half years before being found at a tourist apartment.
The second arrest took place in Vilablareix, where a 30-year-old man was identified by a patrol from Salt. He is accused of involvement in a March 2025 homicide in Turkey linked to armed criminal groups. Turkish authorities are seeking a life sentence for the suspect, whose extradition is being processed by the Audiencia Nacional.
These operations are part of a broader crackdown by the Penitentiary Environment Unit, which assisted in 112 arrests of fugitives during 2025, marking a 62% increase compared to the previous year.
