The Government of Catalonia opened an investigation file against Renfe this Thursday following the Rodalies service paralysis caused by train drivers refusing to operate trains.

The Commissioner for the Rodalies transfer, Pere Macias, announced the opening of the file during an appearance in Barcelona, noting that the operator Renfe "is not providing a service it must deliver." This decision comes despite Adif having previously confirmed that "safety is guaranteed" on the network.

"We cannot tolerate this, because safety is guaranteed, and the right to mobility of thousands of citizens in Catalonia is being affected."

The Catalan executive described the situation as "intolerable" and urgently called a meeting with Renfe, the unions, and Adif to demand an immediate end to the service stoppage affecting thousands of citizens.
Macias stressed that the Government cannot tolerate this situation, as infrastructure safety is guaranteed, yet the right to mobility is being violated. The Government promised that "responsibilities will be demanded from those concerned" regarding the crisis management.
