The incident occurred shortly before 3 PM in a dwelling located on the Avinguda de la Font de la Pólvora. Three units of the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters) were quickly mobilized, finding the staircase and the apartment filled with smoke.

The fire was localized to a sofa and was rapidly extinguished by the emergency services. After controlling the blaze, the Firefighters used a thermal camera to confirm the fire was completely out and proceeded to ventilate the apartment and the building's staircase.

The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) treated the five occupants for smoke inhalation. Two of them required transfer to the Hospital Trueta due to minor intoxication, while the other three were discharged at the scene. The Girona Municipal Police also participated in the operation.
