The Danish multinational Falck, responsible for the new ambulance service in the province of Girona and the northern Barcelona coast, considers Catalonia a strategic point for its growth in healthcare transport in Spain.

The company, which has won three lots of the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) tender worth 278.2 million euros, has smoothly initiated the service deployment in Girona. According to a company spokesperson, the first hours of operation have proceeded without significant incidents, with a rapid integration of their systems with public ones.
Falck's management has highlighted the close coordination with the SEM and CatSalut, resulting from frequent meetings to align all processes. This tender, described as innovative and high-quality, emphasizes equipment, technological solutions, and system integration, aiming to improve response times and focus on the patient.

"Public-private collaboration enables knowledge capacity. As private ambulance providers, we are ready to innovate in the industry. I am not saying that everything should be outsourced, nor everything internalized, but collaboration is the way forward, not only in Catalonia and Spain, but globally."

In the coming months, Falck will focus on deploying the remaining two lots, covering southern Barcelona and the Penedès region. This contract in Catalonia is considered a fundamental pillar for the company, which intends to explore the rest of the Spanish market and participate in industry innovation, which it sees as having great growth potential.
The company already has a presence in the Balearic Islands and is open to expanding throughout Spain, without ruling out any region. Its main objective is not to be the leading provider, but to offer high-quality services with its partners, putting the patient at the center to save and improve more lives.
