Historic former striker Farriol Danés, a key figure for Girona FC and UE Olot during the sixties, has died at the age of 82, deeply affecting the football community in Girona.

Danés, who trained at Deportiu, was a prominent player for Girona, playing at the Vista Alegre pitch during the sixties. He was also a fundamental part of Olot, with whom he won the Tercera División championship during the 1966-67 season.
His professional career was cut short prematurely, as he left football at the age of 24 to take over the family fruit business, Fruites Danés, following his father's death. He later played for Banyoles due to the insistence of Xavi Agustí.

"He told me, that player, I don't want him to touch the ball. And he didn't touch it. I don't remember his name, but he didn't touch it."

Years later, a tragic motorcycle accident on the Olot road left him in a wheelchair, an event that profoundly marked his life. The Girona clubs rallied in a beautiful show of support, paying tribute to him at the Fèlix Farró in La Devesa.
Farriol Danés played a total of 62 matches with the Girona first team, scoring five goals, between the 1964-66 and 1967-68 seasons. During his time at Olot, he recorded eight goals in 17 League matches. The burial will take place this Friday at noon in an intimate ceremony at Mémora.
