The Generalitat Firefighters have been searching since Tuesday for a man who may have been swept away by the water while trying to cross a river with his car in Palau-Sator (Baix Empordà), amid flood alerts.

The search is concentrated in the Palau-Sator area, a village located about ten kilometers from La Bisbal d’Empordà. Several units and personnel from the GRAE special rescue group are mobilized to find the man, who was reportedly caught by the force of the water. The danger level has been raised in Empordà, Selva, and Gironès, where classes have been suspended.

"Many sections are exceeding the danger threshold. Exercise extreme caution. Do not approach riverbeds. Avoid crossing fords and low points."

Catalan Water Agency (ACA) · Water Management Authority
The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has warned that the Fluvià, Ter, and Daró rivers could exceed the danger limit during the morning near Serinyà, Colomers, Torroella de Montgrí, and La Bisbal. The Daró river, usually dry, surpassed the flow rate recorded during Storm Gloria in 2020 as it passed through La Bisbal d’Empordà, reaching 500 cubic meters per second. The Onyar, which crosses the city of Girona, is also increasing its flow.
Due to the storm, which could accumulate up to 200 liters per square meter, multiple mobility disruptions have been reported. Rail traffic on the Rodalies lines is cut between Caldes de Malavella and Girona (lines RG1 and R11) due to a fallen tree. Furthermore, several roads in the province of Girona are closed, including the C-252 between Vilabertran and Peralada, and the N-260 in Llançà.
