The province of Girona is cementing its status as a gastronomic epicenter thanks to the success of its wines, craft spirits, and signature cocktails, driven by the DO Empordà and innovative family projects.

The excellence of Girona wine has received international recognition, with Celler Perelada ranked as the 22nd best winery in the world in a recent listing. Furthermore, the DO Empordà will celebrate its major '50 veremes' festival in Capmany, highlighting the quality of its products, including an Empordà wine chosen as the best in Catalonia. Celler d'Espolla also dedicates a weekend to Vi Novell (New Wine), emphasizing the importance of tradition.
Innovation in spirits and mixology is also key. Projects like Gin Càdec, born in Cadaqués, produce craft gin flavored with the aroma of Cap de Creus. Other Girona gins, which originated as high school projects, have reached world-renowned establishments like El Celler de Can Roca. In mixology, Mariona Vilanova, the soul of Nykteri's, stands out for transforming “wishes into cocktails,” while a Girona cocktail represents the Catalan vermouth culture.
The recovery of traditional beverages also plays a leading role. In Riells i Viabrea, a centenarian woman has “resurrected” her grandmother's ratafia recipe, while La Penjada has established itself as a more casual and award-winning ratafia. Finally, the fusion of tradition and festivity is evident at the La Bisbal fair, which combines local beer, ceramics, and a festive atmosphere.
