The mayor of Girona, Lluc Salellas i Vilar, has confirmed his intention to seek re-election as mayor in the 2027 municipal elections, aiming to consolidate the governing project of Guanyem Girona.

The announcement was made this Saturday, April 11, 2026, during a vermouth conversation where Salellas discussed the challenges and future of the city. The leader of Guanyem Girona emphasized his desire to continue with the “transformation of the city” and complete ongoing initiatives.

"We want to finish what we have started; in 2027 I will run to be re-elected mayor of Girona."

Salellas aims to renew the mayoralty he secured in 2023, following a government pact with Junts and Esquerra. He believes this agreement is reproducible and that his continuity is essential to complete the city's project. The possibility of running again has been made possible by modifications to the ethical codes of CUP and Guanyem Girona.
The mayor has advocated for the need for “more years of Guanyem government” to continue with transformations in areas such as housing, urban development, and social and public services. He highlighted that the current executive has more experience to address pending challenges, as “changes take time”.
The party will define the individuals who will accompany Salellas on the list throughout this year, although it has already been indicated that part of the current team will be consolidated. This decision seeks to revalidate a government that, according to Salellas, has proven to be solvent, accessible, and committed to the city. With this announcement, Salellas joins the electoral race alongside figures such as Gemma Geis (Junts) and Marc Puigtió (Moviment Gironí or ERC), who have already confirmed their candidacies.
