Numerous users suffered a morning of chaos and confusion at the Girona station on February 9, 2026 due to delays, the cancellation of minimum services, and the lack of information regarding AVE and Rodalies trains.
The incident began early in the morning when the AVE scheduled for 8:09 AM accumulated an hour's delay, without staff being able to guarantee its departure. Simultaneously, a Rodalies service that should have covered the route from Portbou (in the Alt Empordà region) ultimately departed directly from the Girona tracks, failing to meet the established minimum services.
“
"It seems there is an hour's delay, but nobody knows how to inform you and the application doesn't work. We don't know when we will arrive or even if we will arrive, and we had to pay a more expensive ticket. We have become a country of tambourines [a phrase expressing extreme disorganization]."
The confusion extended to Medium Distance services. Users like Teresa had to confirm directly with the driver that the convoy would make usual stops, such as at Riudellots de la Selva. Carme Garcia, traveling to Granollers, lamented the daily uncertainty: “This train was supposed to come from Portbou, but it leaves from Girona. This is not normal. The application doesn't work and it's out of control.”
“
"Every day is chaos and, as always, without information. I live this with great anxiety because I arrive late to work every day, and when returning, I always get home an hour and a half or two hours later. This is no life."
The uncertainty also affected the High Speed (AVE) services. Passengers like Judit Alameda pointed out that staff could not guarantee whether the 8:09 AM train would eventually depart, and that contradictory schedules appeared on the screens. Faced with the lack of clarity, some travelers, such as Francisco Barranco, chose to change their plans to ensure they reached work.
