The railway company Renfe will resume the Rodalies service in Catalonia this Thursday, January 22, but warns it cannot guarantee normality given the demands for safety improvements from the drivers.

The decision by Renfe follows a meeting held this Wednesday in Barcelona with the main railway unions, prompted by Semaf's announcement of a nationwide strike due to several recent accidents.
During the meeting, the drivers expressed their concern about the state of the Catalan network and assessed the tests that Adif carried out overnight to check the infrastructure.

The workers demanded that infrastructure “improvement” actions begin “immediately”. Renfe, in a subsequent statement, assured that it “supports” these demands and has committed to mobilizing “more resources”.
The operator will act to introduce corrective measures that will improve the safety and operation of the Rodalies service. However, the meeting, held at the Hotel Barceló Sants in Barcelona, concluded with dissatisfaction among some employees, who criticized the company for being “zero propositive.”
