Her passion for snowboarding comes from her family, as her father practiced it and they occasionally went up to La Molina. However, her technique was forged in Hawaii, where the family lived for three years while her parents ran an ice cream parlor in Pals, on the Costa Brava.
“"I don't know how to ski; I started snowboarding because there is no surfing in Girona."
Upon returning from Hawaii at age 11, Nora Cornell joined a snow club. After winning the Catalonia and Spain championships, she began taking the sport seriously. During her second year of secondary school, she participated in the Ski Study program in Puigcerdà, an era she describes as “incredible” despite being different from the lives of other children.
Her progression accelerated after the pandemic. In the 2022-23 season, she finished second overall in the European Cup, which opened the doors to the World Cup. After securing a top-14 finish in Canada, she earned the necessary points to qualify for the Olympic Games.
“"I want to make it clear that these are my first Games, but they are not my last. I will fight for the next four, eight, and 12 years if necessary, following in the footsteps of Queralt Castellet."
Currently, Nora Cornell balances her sports career with distance studies in Law and Business Administration (ADE) at UNIR, although she plans to drop ADE. Just before the competition, she had to request an exam postponement to participate in the slopestyle qualification.
