Storm Harry forced the suspension of classes and school activities this Tuesday, January 20, across several regions in Girona due to intense rainfall and the high risk of river overflow.

The most affected regions are Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà, La Selva, and Gironès, where Protecció Civil issued an Es-Alert warning to mobile phones about the flood risk, urging citizens to avoid travel until 5:00 PM.
The most critical situation is observed at the Daró river, near La Bisbal d'Empordà, which has exceeded 500 cubic meters per second, marking a historical record. Furthermore, Firefighters are searching for a missing man in Palau-Sator (Baix Empordà) who may have been swept away by a stream while driving.

Citizens are asked not to approach riverbeds, not to go down to basements, and, if water enters their home, to move to upper floors.

Disruptions extend to transportation, with the suspension of Rodalies R11 and RG1 lines between Girona and Caldes de Malavella due to a fallen tree. Simultaneously, the maximum danger red alert remains active on the Catalan coast for waves potentially reaching 7 meters.
