The first three stages of the 2026 Tour de France will cover 397.4 kilometers across Catalan territory, with starts in Barcelona, Tarragona, and Granollers. The competition will traverse 12 comarcas, featuring 15 ascents and an accumulated positive elevation gain of 6,650 meters. In the province of Girona, the race can be followed in key municipalities such as Alp, Puigcerdà, La Molina, Ripoll, and Planoles.

The Grand Départ, which will be a 19.7-kilometer team time trial on July 4, will start from Barcelona beach and finish at Montjuïc Castle. The second stage, on July 5, will run from Tarragona to Barcelona (178.4 km), with a demanding finish at Montjuïc. The third stage, on July 6, will start in Granollers and conclude at the Les Angles station in Capcir, passing through the Collada de Toses.
The Minister of Sports, Berni Álvarez, emphasized that the event will leave an economic, social, and environmental legacy, assuring that it is “the best possible event” for 2026. Illa added that when efforts are united, Catalonia “shows its best version” and transmits confidence and security to the world.
