The municipal budget for Sant Gregori for 2026 shows growth with the aim of offering better services and facilities to the population, as explained by Mayor Joaquim Roca (Junts). This increase occurs amidst financial difficulties, as sources of income such as IAE, ICIO, and capital gains have decreased, while the cost of most supplies and the human resources chapter have increased.
“"The priority is to bring in more resources to make more investments."
The decrease in ICIO and capital gains is due to the slowdown in the construction of new housing, as the population of Sant Gregori remains stable at around 4,200 inhabitants (with a slight decrease as of 1/1/2025). The Mayor expects to recover this income when the procedures for the new developable sector between the torrent de Garrabia and Mas Simon are completed, which has already received initial approval.
Regarding the IAE (Economic Activities Tax), collection has decreased due to a local company that expects to bill less in 2026. To compensate, the council relies on the expansion of the industrial sector of la Joeria, which should allow the establishment of new companies and generate new IAE and ICIO from the construction of industrial warehouses.
The priority for the remainder of the mandate is to execute the approved investments, which include improvements to sports, educational, cultural, and social facilities, in addition to starting the construction of the Centre de Serveis a les Persones (Center for Services to People). The Mayor thanked ERC and the opposition groups for their collaboration in drafting the budget, ensuring the document reflects the fulfillment of the electoral program and the needs of the municipality.
