The Catalan Government has commissioned the public company Ifercat to update the studies for the Transversal Railway Axis, a strategic infrastructure project that will cross the Lluçanès region through underground tunnels.

The 300-kilometer line aims to connect Lleida and Girona. In Lluçanès, the route will pass through Oristà and Sant Bartomeu del Grau. While no stations are planned for the area, the project includes long tunnels to navigate the Gavarresa valley.

"We won't build it next year, but we will have the executive project to be able to do it."

Salvador Illa · President of the Generalitat
The study update costs 5 million euros. The line is designed for freight and high-speed passenger trains, reaching 250 km/h. Local critics argue the project is too costly and suggest focusing on existing bus lines and rail improvements instead.
