“"Innovation isn't just about installing photovoltaic panels, but about knowing how to leverage municipal spaces and infrastructures to have more than one function. With this project, besides generating renewable energy and reducing energy expenditure, we are improving facilities, creating climate protection areas, and can share part of the energy with the local community. It's a way to advance towards an energy transition that benefits the entire municipality."

Prats de Lluçanès has been a finalist in the most innovative installations category of the ALEO Awards, promoted by the Local Energy Agency of the Osona Regional Council, for its photovoltaic self-consumption project in the sports and educational area.
The Prats de Lluçanès project, which combines renewable energy production, climate shelters, and an energy community, is expected to save around €30,000 annually on electricity. The initiative highlights the photovoltaic self-consumption installations, totaling a power of 383 kWp, utilizing municipal facilities such as the solar pergola, sports area changing rooms, the Escola Lluçanès roof, and the pavilion's cover.
These infrastructures not only contribute to renewable energy generation but also enhance user comfort by creating covered spaces and shaded areas that function as climate shelters. The Escola Lluçanès, for instance, is becoming nearly energy self-sufficient.
In addition to economic savings and emission reduction, the project incorporates a community dimension. Part of the surplus energy is directed to the local energy community through the Cooperativa de Consum de Prats de Lluçanès, promoting shared self-consumption in the municipality.
The next planned phase includes the incorporation of batteries for storing the produced energy, improving system efficiency and moving towards greater energy autonomy for municipal facilities.
