The Department of Health of the Arenys de Mar City Council has carried out a new operation to control the pigeon population in the municipality, capturing a total of 170 birds on October 9th.

The work included baiting and monitoring tasks at various points in the town. These interventions aim to maintain a balanced population and reduce the nuisances and problems associated with a high presence of these birds, such as dirt, droppings, odors, or damage to buildings and heritage.
The operations were carried out with the authorization of the Generalitat de Catalunya and in accordance with current regulations.
The City Council also reminds citizens that feeding pigeons in public areas is not permitted. The municipal ordinance regulating animals considers this practice a minor infraction, which can result in fines of between 100 and 400 euros. Citizen collaboration is key to preventing their proliferation.
