The Calella City Council will begin the removal of the El Paso bar structure on March 15 to build a historical memory space dedicated to shipbuilding in the Maresme region.

The urban intervention will cover an area of 800 square meters along the Manuel Puigvert Promenade. This decision follows the municipal government's move to end the space's concession, aiming to provide continuity to the walkway and recover the city's seafaring past.
The new memorial will feature an original boat built in the city's old shipyards. The area will include information panels explaining the history of this sector, which saw a significant boom starting in 1854, making Calella a benchmark in large vessel construction.
The remodeling also includes the renovation and expansion of the current children's playground, which will double in size. New trees will be planted to ensure visual continuity with the rest of the promenade, and monumental letters spelling the city's name will be installed.
