Train traffic on the R1 line was interrupted this morning between Arenys de Mar and Canet de Mar due to a gas leak caused by construction work.

The incident occurred when a machine punctured a gas pipe located just three meters from the train tracks. The Bombers de la Generalitat received the alert at 10:47 AM and requested the suspension of rail services to ensure safety in the area.
As a preventive measure, emergency teams established a 50-meter safety perimeter around the leak. This resulted in the confinement of residents in ten nearby homes and a campsite, although officials confirmed that no gas had accumulated inside the buildings.
The utility company managed to stop the leak, allowing rail traffic to resume shortly before 12:30 PM. The Bombers continued to monitor the area while final repair work was completed.
