Mataró Celebrates 5th Female Giants Gathering for Tomassa's 40th Anniversary

The city of Mataró is hosting the fifth edition of the Female Giants Gathering from March 6 to 14, a special event marking the 40th anniversary of Tomassa, a local cultural icon.

This year's celebration focuses on Tomassa, the host giant from the Cerdanyola neighborhood. She is a veteran figure known for her advocacy and for highlighting the role of women in traditional Catalan folklore within the Maresme region.
The festivities begin this Friday, March 6, at 6:30 PM with a parade from Plaça de la Peixateria to the Ateneu Centre Cultural. An exhibition featuring the giants will be open to the public at the center until March 13.
The main event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14. Starting at 5:00 PM at Plaça de Santa Maria, visitors can see figures from various regions including Bages, Osona, and Barcelonès, followed by a grand parade through the city streets.
