The town of Pineda de Mar has achieved a significant 39% reduction in squatting incidents and a 5% decrease in overall criminal acts between 2024 and February 2026, according to data from the Local Security Board.

This improvement in security occurs despite an increase of over 3,000 new residents in recent years. The Mossos d'Esquadra have highlighted that, even with demographic growth, the overall crime rate has decreased by 23% during the same period.
The various security forces attribute this positive trend to the implementation of measures such as the expansion of the video surveillance network and increased police controls in public spaces. These actions are often coordinated between the Local Police, Mossos d'Esquadra, National Police, and Guardia Civil.

Pineda de Mar generally remains below the Catalan average in terms of crime rate.

Currently, the rate of occupied homes in the municipality is below 0.74% of the total housing stock. However, an 8% increase in minor thefts has been detected, particularly robberies inside vehicles, although some of these cases have already been resolved with arrests.
