The main objective of the initiative, open to the public, was to bring basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED) closer to citizens, promoting awareness and first aid training for cardiorespiratory emergencies.
Professionals from the SEM base in Calella conducted awareness and outreach activities on how to act in an emergency and the importance of early intervention. Practical CPR and AED workshops were held with demonstrations and participant involvement, along with an exhibition of SEM vehicles and assistance resources.
The event was organized by the SEM in collaboration with the Agrupació Esportiva de Clubs de l’Alt Maresme (AECAM), the Corporació de Salut del Maresme i la Selva, the Malgrat de Mar City Council, Ambulàncies Falck, and Vadevidas.
In the event of a cardiorespiratory arrest, it is essential to call 112 and start resuscitation maneuvers within the first few minutes, as rapid action can multiply survival chances.
