The Waste Treatment Consortium has approved the construction of the first phase of the future Circular Economy Park in Mataró, budgeted at 6.5 million euros, to promote waste reduction and reuse.

This initial stage of the project, located in the Mata-Rocafonda industrial estate, will feature the Refer Space as its central element. This service will offer free activities to citizens focused on the repair, preparation, and reuse of all types of objects.

"It is a social facility where residents can come to carry out different activities related to the circular economy and sustainability."

David Bote · Mayor of Mataró and Consortium President
The consortium president and Mayor of Mataró, David Bote, highlighted the uniqueness of the initiative, stating that the park aims to turn the capital of Maresme into a reference point in the field of circular economy.
The architectural project, which will be built on the former site of the Cooperativa Obrera Cristalleries de Mataró, will incorporate criteria for energy management, water cycle control, material selection, and the promotion of environmental biodiversity. Furthermore, crushed glass aggregates accumulated on the plot will be utilized for coloring the interior pavements.
