The Hospital Universitari de Mataró has been honored as one of the state's top hospitals for surgical procedures at the 8th edition of the BSH Awards - Best Spanish Hospitals Awards 2026.

The award, organized by the consultancy Higia Benchmarking, highlights the center's surgical results, commitment to quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement in care. These awards recognize hospitals with the best outcomes based on objective indicators of activity and healthcare quality.
The BSH Awards evaluation is based on indicators that allow for the comparison of results from similar centers, considering hospital type and service portfolio. This edition analyzed up to 110 clinical procedures across 11 clinical areas, using over 5,000 indicators.
In 2025, the Hospital Universitari de Mataró performed 14,308 surgical interventions, a 23% increase from the 11,629 in 2023. This growth reflects the consolidation of its surgical model focused on meeting rising demand.
This recognition follows the awards the hospital received in the 2025 edition, where it won the Benchmark BSH award in the maternal-infant area and was a finalist in the surgical area.
