With the arrival of autumn, the beaches of Montgat continue to be a space for walking and enjoying the natural environment. The new Beach Use Ordinance, definitively approved by the municipal plenary on September 24, sets out the conditions to be respected throughout the year to ensure coexistence, safety, and preservation of the natural environment.
Among the novelties for the autumn and winter months are those related to companion animals. From October to May, inclusive, the circulation, presence, and bathing of dogs and other companion animals are permitted, without time restrictions, on four beaches: Cala Taps, Platja de les Roques, Platja de Monsolís, and Platja dels Toldos. In contrast, the presence of animals remains prohibited on the beaches of Can Tano and Barques-Sant Joan.
On authorized beaches, dogs can circulate and remain off-leash under the responsibility of the owner, who must collect excrement, clean urine, and bring water to dilute it, in addition to maintaining responsible behavior.
Regarding recreational sea fishing from land, outside the bathing season, it can be practiced 24 hours a day, provided that safety conditions and applicable regulations are met. Fishing is prohibited if it endangers the physical integrity of people or animals, or when bathers are nearby. It is also forbidden to abandon organic waste or fishing-related materials on the beach.
The ordinance, which can be consulted on the municipal website, aims to ensure beaches are safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly spaces, fostering coexistence among users throughout the year.
