Protecció Civil activated the Neucat plan this Saturday due to snowfall at low altitudes (down to 300-400 meters) in central and northeastern Catalonia, particularly affecting counties such as Ripollès and Moianès.

The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya issued a danger warning of 3 out of 6 for snow, with high risk predicted in Alt Empordà, Selva, Ripollès, Osona, Moianès, Lluçanès, and Berguedà, where up to 5 centimeters of snow could accumulate.

"Limit mobility, avoid unnecessary travel, equip your vehicle, and check the status of the roads. In case of emergency, call 112"

The Servei Català de Trànsit confirmed that chains were mandatory on about thirty roads, including key sections such as the C-28 at the Bonaigua pass, the C-13 between Llavorsí and Esterri d'Àneu, and the N-260 at the Cantó pass. Firefighters had to assist vehicles stuck on the TV-7005, in Vilanova de Prades.
Snow appeared at unusually low altitudes, such as in Espluga de Francolí (Conca de Barberà), Conques (Pallars Jussà), and in the capital of Moianès, Moià. Snowfall was also recorded in Panadella (Anoia), Segarra, and even in metropolitan areas like Vallvidrera and Tibidabo.
