The request by the Amposta City Council covers 50% of the total cost, which amounts to 1,835,000 euros, and has been addressed to the Generalitat de Catalunya. The remaining 50% is expected to be requested from the State when the corresponding aid call opens, as explained by Mayor Adam Tomàs.
“"The increase in damages that municipalities are suffering is growing larger every time."
The mayor contextualized the growing impact of intense rainfall episodes. He recalled that damages in 2023 required an investment of 500,000 euros and those in 2024, about 600,000 euros, both financed only 50% by the State. The amount requested for the 2025 floods nearly triples previous figures.
“"We are nearly two years behind between when the emergency happens and when we can finish executing the works."
Tomàs demanded speed from the higher administrations, noting that the City Council is currently still executing works from previous episodes. He urged the Generalitat to resolve the grant application quickly and called on the State to fulfill its commitment to assume its share, warning that otherwise, the council would have to cover nearly one million euros with its own resources.
The application is divided into two main blocks: 1,129,000 euros allocated to the repair of the road network, affecting 22 paths in areas such as the Averia, Rota, Núvols, and Pins/Comes ravines; and 624,000 euros for damaged municipal facilities, including the Agustí Barberà school, the football field, the Lo Pati Art Center, and the municipal swimming pool. Additionally, 82,000 euros in damages to power lines in the Oriola industrial estate have been quantified.
