Officers from the Àrea Regional de Trànsit (Regional Traffic Area) of the Terres de l'Ebre charged a driver with a crime against road safety after they were caught traveling at 174 km/h last Saturday on the TV-3408 road in Amposta.

The detection occurred at 12:22 p.m. last Saturday at kilometer point 5 of the TV-3408, the road connecting La Ràpita with Amposta. The speed limit established on this stretch is 80 km/h, meaning the vehicle was traveling at more than double the allowed speed.
Due to the extremely high speed, the Mossos d'Esquadra officers conducting the control were unable to intercept the car at the time of the infraction. Subsequently, necessary steps were taken to identify the vehicle's owner.

The driver has been summoned to the Amposta Duty Court, where they are charged with a crime against road safety, punishable by prison sentences or community service.

This type of offense can result in prison sentences ranging from 3 to 6 months, a fine of 6 to 12 months, or community service for 31 to 90 days. Furthermore, the sentence mandatorily includes the withdrawal of the driving license for a period of between one and four years.
